Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his first title for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from March of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on court had prompted some to question if his ability to play at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued four early break points in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
